Port Macquarie City Women's Bowling Club - Newsletter May 2008Many thanks to Robyn Biddle, Publicity, for providing this newsletter for posting to the Bowls News website.
In May we had the final of our
Club Singles. Our congratulations go to Carol White on becoming our Club Singles Champion. We also congratulate Lynne Thompson on runner-up. It was a good game with some wonderful draw bowls being played, great to watch.
We also held our
Four’s Carnival. What a successful three days. We could not have asked for better weather. One hundred and six teams participating. Monday thirty eight, Tuesday thirty eight and Wednesday thirty teams.
We thank Shirley Devine for all the work she did getting all the teams and the match and umpires for all their work. The dining room had a real carnival atmosphere; tables were decorated with balloons, which were made by Norma.
On Tuesday we had our Charity Day for the Oncology Unit at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
President Mary was able to send a cheque for $2000.00. What a great effort.
The overall winners for Monday:
Fay Schollum, Lois Bishell, Barbara Gunn & Lynne Thompson-Port City
Tuesday winners were: Coral Rice, Jan Ross, Irene Orr & Lois Wright-North Haven

Now for a little fun…….
Father Murphy walked into a pub in Donegal, and says to the first man he meets, “ do you want to go to heaven?”
The man said “yes I do Father.”
The Priest said, “then stand over there against the wall”
Then the Priest asked the second man “do you want to go to heaven?”
“Certainly, Father,” “then stand against the wall” the Father said.
Then Father Murphy walked up to O’Toole and said “ do you want to go to heaven?”
O’Toole said “no I don’t Father.”
The Priest said “I don’t believe this. “You mean to tell me that when you die you don’t want to go to heaven.”
O’Toole said, “OH when I die, Yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now.”
