Some fans trying to keep warm

Some brave spectators enjoying the game

The semi final and final of the LNC District Champion of Club Champions Singles was played today at Westport BC. The weather was clear but the free running greens and gusty winds gave all the bowlers a challenge.

This morning a semi final was played with Peter Taylor (Kempsey Heights) defeating David Gabb (Port City) in a close match 31 - 29. Jeff Fathers (Westport) received a forfeit from Paul Paterson (Lake Cathie) to move directly into the final after his win yesterday.

The two young guns, Jeff Fathers and Peter Taylor, met in the final with Peter breaking away to an early lead 14 - 0. Jeff came back from a slow start and held his own for a number of ends but he couldn't overcome the huge deficit. Peter won the District title 31 - 16 and now progresses to the Zone playoff to decide the Zone 14 representative for the State finals.

Jeff Fathers - Westport

Well done George

David Gabb - Port City

The first 2 rounds of the Champion of Club Champions for the LNC District was played at Westport today.
Results as available are as follows:

Jeff Fathers (Westport) defeated George Ganic (North Haven) - I am led to believe that Jeff now proceeds to the final due to Paul Paterson (Lake Cathie) giving a forfeit in the semi finals.

David Gabb (Port City) defeated Wayne Anderson (Port Panthers) 31 -30. David now will play the semi final against the winner of Peter Taylor (Kempsey Heights) & Trevor Gittoes (Hat Head). Sorry but I don't have details of the winner at this time.

Additional photos are available in the Bowls Photo Albums - click here to view

Play will continue tomorrow morning, Sunday 17th August, with the semi finals and finals.

Update 17 August - Peter Taylor is playing David Gabb in the semifinal. Score was 20 all when I left.
