The Minor Singles were played and resulted in a win for Rebekah Ramsay, runner-up Judy Scholz. Congratulations Rebekah, what a wonderful achievement for a 14 year old. Rebekah has been chosen to play in the Chairman's team in the Presidents V Chairman's on the 22nd and 23rd November.

The minor pairs were played and the final was between the teams of Kerry Bolsover/ Pat Morrison and Adriana Cutler/Brenda Burge. It resulted in a win for Kerry & Pat, congratulations, and well done to Adriana and Brenda in reaching the final.

Gala Day was held on the 7th October and was a great success, with a cheque being presented to District President Pamela Ditchfield for the amount of $1500. Well done to all of you who helped in making this a success.

Friendship Day was held on the 21st October and we were very lucky with the weather. It was lovely to see old friends playing together, and new friendships being made. We raised $600 for the Leukaemia Foundation, thank you everyone.

Hastings v Macleay was held at North Haven on the 30-31 October and the team of Ingrid Code, Frances Green, Julie McKay and Hannah Clohesy competed. They did very well and won 2 out of the 3 games played.

Congratulations to Carol White who went to Oak Flats to play in the Champion of Champions. The opposition was tough, and unfortunately Carol didn’t come home with any trophies, but she came 8th in the state.

The girls who went to Sydney - Faye Schollum, Lois Bishell, Barbara Barrett, Beth Schubert, Carol Bowman, Lynne Thompson, were not successful but what a wonderful achievement in reaching the State Play-offs. We all think you did great. Lynne won her first game, but was very unlucky in missing out on a win in her second game 31-30, you can’t get much closer than that, well done.

Melbourne Cup Day was a great success, champagne on the greens to start with – not many wrong biases. Then after a lovely chicken/ham lunch and more bubbly, we were entertained to a hula hook competition which was won by Carol Banks. How did you keep going for so long – we all want to know?

The hat competition was well participated and Chairman Bob had great difficulty in picking a winner. Our Fay Martin was in the 4 way tie, they all received a bottle of bubbly. I’m sure there would be a lot of aching bones after the twisting on the dance floor. Fashion models, Robyn Biddle, Phyl Warnes, Ann Kirk, Shirley Chapman and Denise Franklin showed us some lovely outfits from Wombat.

On the lighter side:

MARRIAGE

Getting married is very much like going to a restaurant with friends. You order what you want, then when you see what the other person has, you wish you had ordered that.

At the cocktail party, one woman said to another, “Aren’t you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?’
The other woman replied, “Yes I am, I married the wrong man.”

A lady inserted an ‘ad’ in the classifieds: “Husband wanted”. Next day she received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: “You can have mine.”

When a woman steals your husband, there is no better revenge than to let her keep him.

MALE OR FEMALE

You might not know this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually either male or female. Here are some examples.
FREEZER BAGS; They are male because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.
SPONGES; These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.
TYRES; Tyres are male, because they go bald easily and are often over-inflated.
EGG TIMERS; Egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight shifts to the
bottom.

State C of C Champions - Men's Prs.

Dallas Cole & Kent Price - Coffs Ex-Services

The first 2 rounds of the RNSWBA Champion of Club Champions, Men's Pairs was played yesterday at the Raymond Terrace BC.

Our Zone 14 reps. He went down to highly ranked Steve Glasson, St Johns Park, 31 - 15 after getting away to slow start. The following is a release from the RNSWBA covering the finals.

"Steve Glasson (St Johns Park) has won his second NSW Champion of Club Champions Singles titles in three years after defeating Peter Taylor (Kempsey Heights) in the final at Raymond Terrace today (4 November).

Glasson dominated the opening stages of the final, racing to a 14-0 lead before Taylor fought back to 17-10. Big time player Glasson refused to let Taylor back into the final, marching to a 31-15 victory.

Glasson continues to underline his standing as possibly the best bowler in Australia, certainly one of the greats of the game, and is one of the most popular players. Such is Glasson’s charm that, contrary to the Australian way of barracking for the underdog, he remains a favourite of the crowd and is always a popular winner.

Taylor, a former NSW Under 18 Representative, won plenty of admirers with his powerful drive and deft draw game, and with the result begins to realise some of the promise he showed as one of the State’s most promising Junior Bowlers. He dominated his semi final against Mudgee Soldiers Doug Kenny, running away with a 31-9 scoreline. Taylor had a tougher battle against Engadine’s David Ferguson in the Quarter Final, emerging with a 31-29 win after a battle royale.

Glasson opened his tournament with a 31-22 win over Joshua Andriske (Dubbo Railway), before overcoming Ray Pearse (Alexandria Erskineville) 31-22 in a match that thrilled the spectators. Nathan Dawson (Kurri Kurri) claimed the early lead in the Semi Final before Glasson stormed home 31-27 to reach the final. "

Thanks to the RNSWBA and the Raymond Terrace BC for their excellent coverage.

Play continues tomorrow with the pairs competition and will see Kent Price & Dallas Cole, Coffs Ex-Services, in action representing Zone 14.

Full details and scoring is available from the Raymond Terrace BC web site - click here for details.

Men's C of C Champions - State Finals

Peter Taylor, Kempsey Heights

The State finals of the Champion of Club Champions, Singles, commenced today at the Raymond Terrace Bowling Club.

Our Zone 14 representative, Peter Taylor from Kempsey Heights, has continued in the fine form he had shown in the District and Zone playoffs.
